dive trips to mexico

when i went to the u of a, i wanted to be a marine biologist, so i would go on alot of 'dive trips' in mexico. here are a few shots from some time in 1974. this is me at the university of sonora in san carlos, probably getting license signed to use 'pronoxfish' in order to collect.

this was a common sight, my home on the beach. i would load up and spend long weekends diving all over the gulf. long hard days and fun nights drinking hot beer.

this is a picture taken in la paz, at the southern tip of baja. yes, a beach party town i spent a few days and evenings at.

clowning around in high school

this is karen, a friend of mine in high school, and me clowning around before class. high school, ahhhhhh, where you go to study. you know all serious and behaving.

my aunt marjorie and uncle charles

i posted this undated photo because it is yet another wonderful memory. this is dads sister, my aunt marjorie and her husband, my uncle charles. (my feeling is this is sometime right around the war, but i may be wrong)again, the mood and feel of this photo is just not present in todays photos.

talk about 'indiana jones'

here are two shots that are truly priceless treasures.

as you can see, photo is dated april 14, 1919. this is my grandmother amanda and (l to r)my dad-ellis, my aunt-golalee and my uncle-gaddis. my dad is 3 years old in this picture.

this photo is undated but is my dads entire family. from (l to r)my uncle gaddis, my dad ellis, my gradmother amanda, my aunt marjorie, my grandfather ellis neely and my aunt golalee
(i love peoples names back then)

random memories

this is mom in an undated shot at old tucson.

here is one of my dad, still at old tucson, but this is much later than the picture of mom above.

this picture i really like. this is dad, william and me with Dave, who was a long time friend of dads. Dave passed away just earlier this year from cancer

rare picture of my grandfather

This is Ellis Neely, my grandfather. No date on photo, but it is old.

(Check out the car on the left) (Also note that he wore bow ties)

What makes it rare is the fact that it shows him with his legs. He had 'sugar' and both his legs were amputated at the knees. As a kid, I called him 'little-pa' and we use to eat sardines and saltine crackers.

in my mothers' arms

just could not resist putting this one up. talk about another place and time. this was my world in 1955.

speaking of a hovel

this was home for many years. yes, my 'room' was in the hallway. dad would hook this to his truck and we moved all over the country. there was no date, but it did say it was at pascagoula. i am guessing this is sometime right after i was born or i was very young, as i do not recognizes the location.

with dad and boots

can you believe the smile. good times with dad and 'boots' our bulldog. photo is dated 1957 so i was 3 or 4 at this time. what cracks me up is the curtains, those are cool. we lived in this trailer for a lot of years and i remember my 'bedroom' was in the hallway, so i had no doors. ahhh yes the good life. that shirt i have on is pretty special. the horse clock behind dad is still with us in a box around here somewhere.

Silver Springs, Fla.

This one is rather fun. Photo is dated May, 1954; which means I was conceived shortly after this was taken. This is my mom and dad having a good time at Silver Springs, Fla. which is an amazing place.

If you need help finding them in the photo, contact me.
Silver Springs is a beautiful 'lake' like place in Fla. where you took a tour in a glass bottom boat. Not sure if it is still there or not. Several TV shows and movies have been made there.

leaves in michigan

(note mom's head shadow at bottom of this picture; and i am not sure what i am doing with my hands)

these are from early November of 1966 when we lived in Michigan. i have always said that parts of this state were the most beautiful i have see in my life. we use to take a lot of day trips and these pictures are a few i kept because the backgrounds are just stunning. top picture is me with my dad and bottom picture is of my mom.

i really liked michigan, very interesting places to see and explore. if you have never been to frankenmuth and had fried chicken, well, you have missed one of the true pleasures in life.

college times with Sue

yet another old pictures of a 'women' in my life, so we will stay with that theme this morning and move ahead to when I was at the U of A. this is Sue who i spent some time with at school. she was a east coast girl out west for school. she always liked doing the cow-girl thing. i remember sneaking into her dorm on nights when her room mate was gone and good times doing non student stuff - you know how it is. she was the last "girlfriend" i had before getting married to my first wife.

A special thank you for Debbi

I had to go get a PetScan yesterday which requires someone to take me and pick me up. My friend Debbi who is very dear and special to me took time out from her day to make sure I got there and back.

Thank you Debbi, I do appreciate it very much.

on Pikes Peak

This is going back a ways. Date on back of photo is June 1961. I am the one on the right and I am with my dad. I remember the trip up the mountain was exciting but it was also long. It was dirt then, I understand it is paved now. I know, suite and tie for a trip up a mountain. He was special. (Note evelation:14,110 feet)

Halo 3 release

gads, I watched the G4 channel last night and their coverage of the Halo 3 release. sorta funny yet interesting as it was such a big deal. the dollar amount spent on this game alone is amazing. microsoft put on a show in new york that included marines on ATVs, a hummer and sargent major himself. the kids acted fine and as expected, the 'press' was all over itself and hitting each other in an attempt to get a better angle on the story.
