a victory after a lot of effort.

yes, i have written snail mail. e-mails. corresponded with like minded friends. wrote more mail. finally, finally; disney(land) comes to its senses and will be re-opening Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. i have shared with you some of my happy memories of this wonderful show in the past and what a part of my family’s disneyland going experience it was.

with the return of the subs (all be it as nemo), refurbishment of IASW earlier this year and now this. there is hope that the peoplemover is also on the minds of imaginers and suits at the park.

it is good to have a victory when it comes to the park. my belief is that the meanings of walt was to add to the park not close the old and add the bad new! i by no means know, but that's my belief and i’m sticking to it.

YES, Mr. Lincoln is coming back. this is a victory.

Philip José Farmer

Philip José Farmer died today, aged ninety-one, a good science-fictional age. According to his homepage, he died peacefully in his sleep.

sad.

Dante's Inferno

i have stated several times that video gamming is going to be the entertainment mainstream in the near future. there is some amazing writing occurring in games these days and of course, the visuals are beyond anything i could have ever foreseen the first time i played ‘pong’. i look forward to this one a lot.

what is interesting to me is the current fad of true mass media assault a la ~ dead space; this will be movie/game/ and i suspect comic at release. get ready, the world is changing people, just keep aware of the message!

THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH.

HP Lovecraft’s THE SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH. By the clearly mad George Taylor, lyrics by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society:

enjoy and embrace your inner fish!

finally, one for the girls

one of the really cool things about being a grandfather to boys is, you have a lot of stuff which they can relate to after you are long gone. my two grandsons’  have a lot to remember me when that time comes.

as you all know by now i have a love of comics and disney. well, today, i finally got a legacy for my grand-daughters which encompass both of those hobbies. after a year of waiting and searching by charlie, i finally got disney comics the classic collection.

IMG_1619

for the first and only time that i am aware of; all the rare disney comic books are in one collection.

the collection:

walt disney’s snow white and the seven dwarfs, 1944

walt disney’s bambi, 1942

walt disney’s dumbo, 1941

walt disney’s alice in wonderland, 1951

walt disney’s peter pan, 1953

short of collecting all of the originals, which would be fairly hard and a little expensive; this volume (published once in 2006 and limited) by disney enterprises, inc.; is a wonderful addition to my collection and it will go to my girls. i hope they will someday come to know how important this is to go from me to them. i am excited and i trust it will be a warm and worthy legacy from me.

take care girls and i hope you will enjoy this special book. it was hard for me to get. i love each of you in a way that i hope you will someday know.

gosh, grand-daughters are hard!

and so it ends again

for the second time with my cancer i have come to the end of a treatment cycle. because of the state that my cancer is at, i have excited normal limits for radiation. i can not begin to tell you the condition the inside of my throat is in. i hurt and now start the long healing process.

i am very glad i have come to the end, the radiation along with the chemo this time around were a real hard road. as i often say, it’s not the cancer that kills you, it is the cure!

end of the world …. well

Roland Emmerich's 2012 movie is coming. you will soon be overwhelmed with the hype. heck, i love end of the world stuff as much as any one.

IHC-globe-website-intro-img

in what may be one of the coolest movie tie-ins i have seen in a long time, sony offers us The Institute for Human Continuity!

story is at http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/02/13/2012s-institute-for-human-continuity-site-launched/

and the direct jump to the site.

enjoy and i hope you get chosen in the lottery. remember, december 21, 2012 continues its unnerving approach and we all know the maya were beyond mistake. is it the end of the world? only art bell knows for sure.

it is a small world;

after all, the fuss and panic, IASW has re-opened. (notice how cleaver that was?) change at the park is just something we all have to deal with. disneyland is over 50 years old and change is the only constant in life. i tend to be a purist and on point want no ride closed or changed updated. that being said, the new IASW looks ok and seems to still be true to the original mary blair concept. enjoy this review which is tongue –n-cheek  but i think puts to rest most concerns.

some thoughts:

‘disneyland will never be complete’……    who said that?

the subs came back..what about the people mover?

can we update star tours please!

also, the main street bank appears to be next on the list for removal. rumor at this point but appears they may put the disney gallery in that space.

upon completion of my 54th trip around the sun

i really do try and enjoy as much of life as i can. sometimes it’s not a lot. sometimes it is. i do know that i have meet and become acquainted to some very special people along the way. i will never be able to tell you all thanks for the memories. i try and think about as many of the personalities that have been a part of my life, as often as i can. if i have reason to say forgive me, please considered it said. if i need to say it’s ok, you're forgiven; consider that said as well. i wish it may have been different in some cases and i wouldn’t change any of some others. i am 54 today. i am alive and i am blessed. whither you are a memory from way back when i was young or i just meet you this week, you have made a difference in my life and i appreciate it. thank you all for adding to my life and i just hope i have made some little difference in yours. happy birthday to me!
